spfromla No comparison to Pirates (1 and 2) or Narnia (the first one) and looks terribly similar to King Arthur. He doesn't even look sexy!
mordred Cant say I agree much with the preaching above. Anyone who's marketed films for a while knows that period films always test small or negatively. You always end up trying to cheat the imagery, the typography. and costume to a place more contemporary to attract more than just the fanboys (etc). Movie marketing isn't about showing reverence for game packaging - it's about putting butts in seats. The game logo is not legible from any distance and it is small. This isnt a great poster - the fleshing out via the outdoor campaign however is pretty rockin!
Chie Hmm. Mixed reactions. I like the tagline, it fits the series like a glove and sounds powerful, and the costume design and makeup is excellent, in fact what drew my eye to this poster at my theatre was the red band around the waist; a very striking colour with great contrast. Gyllenhaal is hot enough as it is, and I actually like the goatee. But the composition is just... bland. The background is gray and dull (This is Ancient Persia, one of the most eye catching architectural designs out there... Show some palaces or something rather than just dirt and clouds!) and that font is terrible. You can tell it was rushed, plus what happened to logos? Since this is an adaptation, they should use the logo from the source so it might catch the eye of a fan, instead we have a gray transparent font that almost blends in with the background. In fact until closer inspection, when I saw this poster at my theatre the only reason I knew it was PoP was the costume I had to get close to notice the title. Also, if you are going to have a shot of your star and have him looking towards something either show what he's looking at, or have him look outwards. A full frontal body shot with a tilted head looks weird, its clear he's looking at something else, but what is it? Is it the poster on the wall next to it? If you're going to have a frontal body shot, align the character to look out instead unless you actually show what he is looking at.
Androo This teaser poster... Isn't that bad? The color, the font, it's all lame and lacks of not just creativity but any visual treat. I wonder how many dollars Disney paid to someone to make a crappy poster that almost everyone, who has a little knowledge in photoshop, can outdo. My complaint is how one of the biggest film studios in the world dare to have such a cheap poster for a possible box-office champ of next year?
butters logo is pretty weak, unless that's how it is on the game
Ben Skevofilax Somwehat surprised that this poster doesn't have much color given its title this should be a flair with vivid colors and an interesting typography, the tagline is weak as well as its all been seen way to often before. Only real effort here is how good Jake does look, he suits the role from an image perspective.
k-man I agree with you, Mel, especially after the posters for other Disney films like Pirates of the Caribbean. Maybe they're trying to distance themselves from that.
Mel Thats a weird typography for a movie like Prince of Persia... I was expecting something more fantastic.
schmirkin Personally - I expected sooo much more. This looks like the classic scenario - ''we made a movie that takes place in a foreign culture in a different age''... and then the studio moguls decided both of these aspects to be a marketing negatives.
Chris The stance looks very stiff. Looks OK I guess though.
ziad This poster is fantastic but it needed more serious grimace on Jake Gyllenhall's face instead of this mild and meek look
enzo an unimaginative and uninspired poster. very blah.
