DahKay I'm impressed that you people are more worried with the fact that there's a naked body, which is beautiful in an artistic way, but with the fact that she's carrying a head in her hand! What have we become? Anyway, the poster has achieved its function, which was creating controversy.
Catman As a 13-year-old kid, I am kinda shocked. In my 3 'safe' years of checking out posters on this site, I have never seen anything so much as to put a female's bosom on a movie poster. There are young kids in this world too, and when they first take a look at this, they won't understand it. However, at the end of the day, they might think that this is cool, even funny on a poster. Fortunately, this is not the first time I have seen a female bosom, and if it was, I would probably be even more outraged with this. This, however, is not the fault of IMP, which is still the best movie site alive, and I thank it for this moment to expess our true opinions and comments. Thanks. at
Bitter Lemon Be great if the movie was called ''The anorexic decapitator'' otherwise I don't like women that skinny....Why did they trim her?
Cynicalbugga I find it noteworthy that Lions Gate gets the lions share of comments...
Jacob Wolff I don't know what to say. I can gaurentee you will never see this poster in theaters. Anyone not familiar with the series would swear up and down it was a porno. I think it was a bad move on the studio's part. Using female nudity to capture the attention of passer by to get them to watch a very disturbing film was a stupid idea. However, I do agree with the idea of the girl being headless. The severed head adds a subtle tone of terror to an otherwise ''happy'' image.
aterax As a female I actually really like this poster. It's not about sex. It's edgy and stays true to all the other posters, for Hostel Pt 1 as well. Hostel is a modern blood and guts/torture flick and posters like this should be expected. I find the nudity mild in comparison to the sexual images of young females used in teenage 'date' movies. I'm sure you all know the blowjob face by now...
stormy nice poster!!! nothing wrong with nudity im looking forwad to see this movie
BigM This is a little on the edgy side, yes, but knowing that it will not be sent to theaters for display (or most likely won't) makes it not as bad. It is indeed kind of artistic while disturbing. I'm not against a 'his and her' version either, even though I'm pretty sure a naked man isn't as seducing as a naked girl (or maybe i think that because I'm a guy O_O)
Matt This is sure to take the cake for the 'Poster least likely to be seen in a cinema' award. I like this poster alot though.
Naomi Thank-you Sam - I do not think this is offensive to women in the slightest, it is just what it portrays itself to be...eye-catching and thought causing.
Sam Standing alone this art is beautiful. Compared to all of the safe, boring key art you see out there, this poster should win an award. It is breaking boundaries by making you realize that you can find art anywhere you look. As a woman, I am definitely not offended-- last years poster was about men getting killed and this years may be about women getting killed. This poster is an ode to the beauty of a woman's body!
movierator Laura, I think you're right. but it's a very tricky subject. It's more than offensive to women. But nobody said anything about the other Hostel poster. Anyway, I must say this poster is very bizzarely sexy to some. But to others it's a little bit artistic... in a creepy way. A
dman420 a naked chick and a severed head, is there any better way to advertise a crazy horror flick?
Zinj Top poster, make me think of the old EU horror poster from the '80, welcome back.
Laura I like the iconic quality of the key art but they are giving away too much. I have also already seen this trick with the severed torso holding the head. The juxtoposition of the beautiful female figure with that grotesque head is intriguing but the fact that they used the female nude to grab your attention and sell the movie, is a really, really cheap trick and I think it takes the 'shock value' too far. As a female, I am a bit put off by this image, I think it is demeaning...was probably designed by a male. Because of this, I have less respect for this key art as well as the film they are intending to sell, so as a result, I would say it is not successful....caught my attention, but for all the wrong reasons.
V.M. Smith I think it's kinda funny, why, I can't explain, but I get a real kick out of this. I would never have this on my wall or anything but It's kinda kinky in an out of this world, H.P. Lovecraft kinda way.
Vinny why make this movie poster? It's interesting, but overall a pointless way to advertise this movie being that its not going to be seen by many. A pointlessly risky ad.
Jason Can they do this?? I was surprised to see this poster on the site, and not in a good way.
