I love retro, but something about this just doesn't work for me... The type and layout is just too plain | | Brandon | 03-23-2007 15:43 [E,W] | Note: I AM 'attacking' the last person who commented this poster design.
Okay, I have a more brilliant idea. How about you ACTUALLY see the film first (and understand that the poster is PART of the whole movie, you'll get what I mean if you can pay attention long enough to comprehend it, which I doubt you'll actually do if you go see this BRILLIANT movie), and then after you're done being the idiot you know you are, you can come back and say that you were 'sorry for being a complete moron'.
The poster is simple, it doesn't need to be flashy or complex, and all that's really needed is shown to you. It's minimalist and (as that other comment proves) smarter than the person reading it. It speaks of the film directly, and as a design standpoint, it is NOT WHAT YOU'D EXPECT TO SEE AS A POSTER FOR A MOVIE, which is VERY intentional. Poster- genius in context to the film. If it wasn't as well thought out as it happens to be, the poster would seem 'bland', but after seeing the movie itself, I can't even begin to think of it as that. Lynch really knows what he's doing, he wouldn't make a poster design so simple or 'stupid' for no reason. He is the most calculated director out there, and he has an eye for audience manipulation.
If you didn't like the poster, you fell into Lynch's all too amazing trap. |
