Boy Girl Thing, Cleaner, Scoundrels, A Good Year

[November 24, 2006 8:15pm]
Thanks to realmovienews and movies-now.piczo.com for the poster for the new UK film It's a Boy Girl Thing. A number of weeks ago we added a poster for Code Name: The Cleaner. However, it was quickly removed as it was not a final draft. Today we have a low quality image of the final version, which is almost the same but Cedric's hair seems a little different and Lucy Liu is no longer smiling. Also, from takoe-kino.com comes a Russian poster for School for Scoundrels. Gotta love the expression on Billy Bob's face! Finally, we have an international poster for A Good Year. [Thanks to Luis for the heads up.]

Night at the Museum, Flushed Away

[November 23, 2006 7:55pm]
For some reason, every time I saw the original poster for Night at the Museum I kept thinking it was Ben Affleck instead of Ben Stiller. No confusion over the names, it's just that back on, the guy in the first poster just doesn't look like Stiller. Fortunately, we now have a second poster, from actuacine.net which clears up any possible confusion. [Thanks to Luis for sending it in.] Also, thanks to 'tonsofwool' for sending along four UK bus shelter character posters. Worst pun: "He's a shock to the cistern."

Thanks to Luis for passing along the German poster for Dreamgirls from uip.de. Also, from EZ1 Productions comes a small poster image for the Australian film Opal Dream which is just coming out in the US. A lovely way of using shadows to show the imaginary friends of the girl.

Black X-Mas

[November 20, 2006 4:20pm]
UPDATE: We've been provided with a finalized version of the poster, which no longer contains the Final Destination reference.
We held off on adding this poster because it was "obviously" not a finalized version. First of all you don't change the title of a film between posters (even if it is just shortening Christmas to X-mas) because it just confuses people. But more importantly, it claims to be "from the director of Final Destination" and although it produced by the director of FD and directed by the producer of FD, it is not, as the line implies, directed by the director of FD. It reminds me of the ads for Certain Fury which bragged of "Two Academy Award Winning Stars". The line was true, but Irene Cara had won her Academy Award for co-writing the song from Flashdance, not acting. [Thanks to Alastair, Luis, IONCINEMA, and Bloody-Disgusting for sending it along.]

Int'l Black Christmas, Smokin' Aces, Mr. Bean 2

[November 16, 2006 2:15pm]
After the simplicity of the initial poster, we now get a very creepy German poster for the remake of Black Christmas. Perhaps a little too graphic to show up on the wall of a US theater. Thanks to Mike Markus for sending it along as well as an international poster for Smokin' Aces. [from uip.nl] Finally, we are simply overflowing with beans this week. Thanks to 'tonsofwool' for the UK quad for Mr. Bean's Holiday. Great tag line!

Off the Black

[November 10, 2006 3:10pm]
From THINKFilm comes the poster for Off the Black. I can't help but imagine a poster that shows Nick Nolte's infamous mug shot, featuring the same tag line: "Would you let this man be your father?" [Thanks to Luis for the heads up.]

Hannibal Rising

[November 9, 2006 4:05pm]
Thanks to Chase for the heads up on the poster for Hannibal Rising over at ComingSoon.net. Doesn't quite seem creepy enough for a Hannibal poster. Maybe it's the eyes or the fact that the nose on the mask gives it more of a humorous feel. As for the tag line, can something truly begin with revenge? Surely it must begin with whatever inspires someone to take revenge in the first place. Maybe I'm just being too picky...

Happily N'Ever After

[November 8, 2006 10:15pm]
Thanks to summermovieblog comes the one sheet for Happily N'Ever After. [Thanks to Mike Markus for the heads up.]

Released as The Alibi elsewhere, the movie is now getting a limited release in the US under the title Lies & Alibis and here is the new poster artwork for it.

Smokin' Aces

[November 2, 2006 4:55pm]
Drop on over to JoBlo to check out their first look at the poster for Smokin' Aces featuring a whole bunch of semi decapitated people. I don't like the chances of survival for the guy in the top left. Looks like all he brought was a deck of cards to a gunfight.

Blood Diamond, Screamers

[November 2, 2006 1:35pm]
From IGN Movies comes the second poster for Ed Zwick's Blood Diamond. After the simplicity of the original poster we knew we would have to see one with DiCaprio's face on it, but this is a very design, with powerful images of the two stars. They also wisely chose to leave out Jennifer Connelly's face from the design, which would probably have been a distraction. The only question the IMP has is what's that blurred spiky object in the foreground? It adds a sense of foreboding to the poster but makes one think they are about to be attacked by a sea urchin. Also, from JoBlo comes the poster of rthe documentary Screamers. [Thanks to Luis for sending these along.]
