Being a non-Trekkie, I'm not sure exactly how this is supposed to excite the average movie goer beyond the simple fact that there is another Star Trek moving coming in 2008. It looks like someone just took a patch and threw on a few color gradients. Doesn't do anything more me.

it's the color scheme that matters. it's old uniform style. back before ST:TMP. Based more on the origional series.

Not that any of this would matter to a non ST geek. But there you have it.

Also, the colors of gold and blue could symbolize Kirk and Spock. Gold is the color of command, where as blue was used for science and medical officers. Since Kirk was the only captain to have a science officer as his first in command, it could very well signify that.

Gee, Paramount Marketing was supposed to have re-invented itself. But as previous comments have noted...unless one is a Trekie, this is just a piece of colored paper.

I think they have come to conclusion its very hard to entice the non-trekkie, so pretty much this poster is to create a buzz amongst the trekkies, that the next movie will go back to the Original series.
